CRAVINGS, CRAVINGS, CRAVINGS!

You know that feeling? It’s a intense urge to eat a sugary, salty, or fatty type of food. Just thinking about it makes me feel excited. It’s an urge to fulfill a desire.

Why do we get CRAVINGS? Some research points towards:

- SLEEP EFFICIENCY; poor quality of sleep can increase frequency of cravings
- STRESS; stress can cause your adrenal glands to release the hormone cortisol, increasing your appetite and cravings
- NUTRITION; Denying yourself specific foods can cause cravings. Avoiding sugary snacks COMPLETELY can cause you to want them more….

But how do we beat our CRAVINGS?
- Prepare a bedtime routine and calm your mind for better sleep.
- Keeping a journal can help you to let go of the stress from the day.

A few good questions to ask yourself;
1 - I will let go off….
2 - I am grateful for….
3 - I will focus on….

Improve your relationship with food through mindfulness may help control over-eating and move beyond restrictive diets. At the end of the day we will get cravings but identifying cravings can give you the power to make better choices that serve you.
